モノ言う人に大儀はあるか：Ichan が買収受諾提案

モノ言う株主・Carl Icahn がYahooにMSの買収を受諾するよう進言しました。ちょっと意外な展開ですね。Yahoo の経営陣はどういう対応に出るのでしょうか。株主利益のため、というのが進言の理由だそうですが、その「株主」とは誰を想定しているのかとちょっと疑問に思ったりもします。株主と企業との良い関係というのは何なんでしょうね。

``The board of directors of Yahoo has acted irrationally and lost the faith of shareholders and Microsoft,'' Icahn, 72, said in a letter to Yahoo's board. ``I sincerely hope you heed the wishes of your shareholders and move expeditiously to negotiate a merger with Microsoft, thereby making a proxy fight unnecessary.''

全訳

72歳のIchan はYahoo の幹部に宛てた手紙でこう述べている。「Yahoo 社の取締役メンバーの行動は非合理的なもので、株主とMicrosoft の信頼を損ねてしまった。御社が株主の意向に留意し、Microsoft との合併を迅速に進めること、またそれによってプロキシーファイトが不必要になることを切に願う。」
